Buy a Bass Amp for your Drum Practise Room
Last updated on September 10, 2009 at 7:42 pmIf you have a practise room with just a drum kit, why not buy a bass amp to open up many possibilities?
Uses for the bass amp
- Hook up your iPod, hifi, mp3 player or laptop and jam along to your favourite music.
- You could also practise along to some free lesson mp3’s found here on learndrumsforfree.com.
- Use it to play along to grade exam pieces and exercises.
- Play along to CDs found in drum books and magazines.
- Hook up a metranome to it.
- Invite a bass player round for a jam session or to privately work on the rhythm section parts for your band between rehearsals.
- You have a backup bass amp for emergencies such as if your bass player blows up his amp at band practise before a gig (this can happen!).
- Amplify your drum triggers, electronic drums, sampler, sound module or other midi device.
There are probably many more uses for a drummer buying a bass amp, but I hope this short list has persuaded you enough to go out and buy one. Although the sound quality would be better over a PA, a bass amp is versatile and can give a good enough sound for practising to. It doesn’t have to be spectacular and you can get good second hand bass amps with plenty of watts (needed for loudness) from about £100 to £500.
