Drum Practice Pads
Last updated on October 29, 2009 at 11:19 pmDrum practice pads are very useful for drummers because they are portable, don’t make much noise, and are great for practicing drum rudiments or drum exercises on. In addition, for the touring drummer, a practice pad is a must have for warming up back stage before a show.
There is a massive range of practice pads and it is important to choose wisely. You should avoid the really hard practice pads that have little give in the surface because the shock sent up your arm can cause tendinitis. One with a fairly soft surface would be appropriate. Further more, you could get a really soft practice pad such as the Moongel Practice Pads (pictured below) pads that work you harder than normal pads. These are probably the best practice pads because when you get back on the drums, everything feels much easier to play.
There are also some really great digital practice pads such as the Roland Rhythm Coach pads that grade your accuracy, trigger sounds as you play, and can play songs from your iPod or CD player.
