Play in time with a Metronome
Last updated on September 6, 2009 at 1:18 amDrumming beginners often fall into the trap of trying to be a fast drummer straight away. The main and most important role of the drummer is to keep time. Would you buy a clock that didn’t keep accurate time? No, it would be as useless as an out of time drummer!
Buying and using a metronome is vital to becoming a solid drummer that keeps time accurately.
A metronome produces a constant clicking or beeping sound that you can play to and can be set to any speed, which is measured in BPM (Beats per Minute). It is an invaluable practise tool. Every reputable recording studio records to a click track, so somewhere down the line you will need to be able to play in time to one effortlessly, so the sooner you get using one the better.
Recommended: Digital 3 in1 Chromatic Tuner/Metronome/Tone Generator – The built in tuner might even come in as a handy backup for your band mates!
