Subdivision Excercises

The following exercise can be used in your practice schedules. Start off slow and accurate before you try to play fast. It is recommended you play to a click.

In order of appearance, this exercise goes through the following subdivisions: eighth notes, quarter note triplets, sixteenth notes, sextuplets, thirty second notes. After the 32nd notes line, the exercise then goes backwards down through the subdivisions all the way to eighth notes again.

Expert Tip: If you use a double kick, try playing the snare line on the bass drum!
