The snare drum has a sweet spot somewhere near the centre. By hitting your snare around the middle a few times you will find a spot that sounds the best. Now try to aim for this spot every time you hit the snare in your beats and hear the difference in your sound! This tip can also be applied to other parts of your kit such as the toms.
