Beginners Running Schedule

Running for beginners is easy but you need to follow a progressive running schedule like this one that is achievable in order to avoid injury or wanting to give up.

Make sure to warm up and down appropriately and wear professional running shoes so that you are comfortable, feel good and most importantly are well supported.

This 8 week running schedule is designed to gradually improve your stamina and running ability so that by the end you can run for 30 minutes without stopping. Running for 30 minutes, three times a week is great exercise for drummers, so it would be fine to keep running at the ‘Week 8′ for future weeks after you have completed the beginners running schedule.

Beginners 8 Week Running Schedule
Week 3 sessions per week
1 Run 5 minutes, walk 2.5 minutes. 4 TIMES
2 Run 7 minutes, walk 3 minutes. 3 TIMES
3 Run 8 minutes, walk 2 minutes. 3 TIMES
4 Run 9 minutes, walk 2 minutes. 2 TIMES then run 8 minutes
5 Run 9 minutes, walk 1 minute. 3 TIMES
6 Run 13 minutes, walk 2 minutes. 2 TIMES
7 Run 14 minutes, walk 1 minute. 2 TIMES
8 Run 30 minutes

If you take some time off running, you should build back up to the week 8 standard. For example, if you take 2 weeks off, start back at week 6 and build up to 8 again.
