Follow these healthy eating tips to ensure your body has the right nutrients to perform at a high level for a sustained period of time.

The fitness levels of a professional touring drummer should be high (close to that of a premiership footballer) due to the amount of energy and stamina needed to play drums for a long period of time. If you want a long and successful career at the top, it is advisable to start eating the right things now to give you a fighting chance. You should aim to eat or drink at least 5 fruit or veg a day. This is so easy but most forget or can’t be bothered. Buy easy snacks if you struggle such as fruit juices, smoothies, apples, bananas, celery sticks. Cook healthy meals with things like salmon, chicken or beef and incorporate plenty of veg such as onions, peppers, salad, carrots, courgettes, mange tout, tomatoes, mushrooms, asparagus and avocado.
