Last updated on November 23, 2009 at 8:47 pm- Wear ear plugs when drumming
- Warm Up and Warm Down for every gig and heavy practice session
- Get Regular Exercise and aim to build up a strong and equal balance between strength, stamina and speed.
- Don’t Smoke – one direct reason is that your breathing is really important for stamina at live shows.
- Get your 5-a-day of fruit or veg
- Drink about 1.5 litres of water steadily throughout each day (not all at once!).
- Don’t hit your drums with more force than is needed. If you want to play loud, just bring the sticks further away from the drum. Use fluid motions when moving the sticks with minimal effort to conserve energy and avoid unnecessary shock going up your arms and into the drums. You will also break less sticks etc.
