Digital Music Distribution
Last updated on February 26, 2010 at 7:20 amIts never been so easy to sell your music and start making money. Services such as CD Baby, Zimbalam and Tune Core make it easy to get global digital distribution for your music, in the form of mp3 downloads.
If you are thinking of writing an album but you are worried about not having a record deal, don’t worry because it can be done. Doing it properly though will require an investment by all band members as it will cost you money for recording studio services, mastering, artwork, photo shoots, merchandise, website, and promotion. If you can get some press rolling with CD reviews and interviews, and build up your reputation online and by playing gigs, it is possible to start making money from your band without having a record label.
If you are on a budget, you should still expect to invest anywhere from £6,000 to £12,000 as a band to record an album that will be able to compete with other professional albums. This will only be cheaper if you are able to record the album for free in your home studio, but don’t cut corners – make it professional!
